Audi car company traces its origin back to 1909 thought the first car in production came in 1910; it was started by a person called August Horch who was later thrown out of the company he himself had founded.
Later the Audi company had turned into a share holding company with the DKW acquiring major shares of the company in the 1920's and was manufacturing eight cylinder engines. The earliest of models were Audi Zwickau and Audi Dresden. The Audi Union was formed in the year 1932.
This time the company was manufacturing smaller cars. The new era of the company began with the acquisition of companies share by the Volkswagen group in the 1960's and till dated has been a wholly owned part of the Volkswagen Company. The company's headquarters are in Ingolstadt Germany.
The company's first modern car was NSU Ro 80 which was called a space age car. The model had futuristic aerodynamics.
