The Triumph Bonneville offers a very famous range of standard motorcycles which are made in three different production runs that began in 1959. The first two production runs, by the Triumph Engineering in Meriden, England were from the year1959 to the year 1983 and from 1985 to the year 1988. The third production run, by the Triumph Motorcycles in Hinckley began in the year 2001.
This production run is named after the Bonneville Salt Flats, where the Triumph and the other motorcycle brands made an attempt to work on the motorcycle speed records. All the motorbikes are equipped with a parallel-twin four-stroke engine placement. The recent version which is produced since 2001 is a totally redesigned and re-engineered version of the original design.
After the introduction of the new version, it was equipped with a 790 cc parallel-twin engine, receiving a 865 cc engine. From 2007 onwards, all Bonneville’s were featured with the 865 cc engine. The electronic fuel injection (EFI) was introduced to the 2008 Britain models and to United States models in the year 2009.
Triumph launched the \"Sixty-8\" line of Bonneville accessories in the year 2006, offering traditional and modern-style items including seat covers, petrol tank covers cam covers, seats, sprocket covers and other items to facilitate the other Bonneville owners to customize their bikes at a lower cost. The adoption of the EFI engine in the year 2008 considered many of these accessories obsolete, as they would not fit in the redesigned tank. Collapse
