There are so many things to look after before buying a used car in India. In fact buying a new car is simple than buying a used car. Most of the buyers feel very happy and satisfied when they manage to fetch good deal in used cars. But what if you miss out in finding flaws of the car, so it is always advisable to inspect the car completely before finalizing the deal. The process may be time consuming, but at the end you will be having much reliable car to drive.
Things to check
Once you finalize the car of your choice don't forget to check condition of a car. It is very important to check details like:
- Check the condition of the engine, it should be smooth. Maintained engine will not make much noise and emit blue or black smoke with accelerating.
- Check whether car is repainted or not .also check for the acid wear and tear around the battery areas, it indicates that car was not maintained by the owner.
- Check Odometer reading of the car and calculate it with the year of manufacture.
- If tyres are not in a good condition than there are chances of further bargaining almost upto 1000 rs. Don't forget to check bushings, springs, and sounds from the bearings, because wheel bearings can be expensive.
- If battery is not new than that will again a chance to bargain.
- If audio system is in the car than check if it is working or not.
- Check electronic items, reverse lights, cabin lights and their working, check out the air condition whether it is working properly or not.
Documents
After checking out condition and being comfortable with it, another step is important and that is, checking out documents. It is must to check and recheck all the documents properly before final payment. Ask for the registration papers from the owner. It is important to confirm that seller is the owner or not.
- Registration certificate- check it for duplicacy and also for the RTO for further authentication. Check the state of registration, state mentioned in the certificate should be the state where you are planning to drive. If it is not like that than make sure that the seller do all necessary things to transfer the registration to the state where you will be using the car.
- Pollution under control certificate is a must to transfer car.
- Insurance certificate again a must document, it is important to check any prior accidents.
These are very important documents that should be checked completely. No objection certificate is again very important document to ensure that seller is not having any claim. These are few steps that should be taken care off prior buying a used car.
