Maruti Suzuki introduced hiked price for diesel variants

16 November, 2011

The rising petrol price in India became a major issue for most of the automobile company, prompted them to slash the price of petrol model and introduce new diesel variant, but it is certainly not a major issue for leading Indian auto major Maruti Suzuki as it has decided to increase the price of diesel visitants. As per the official report, the domestic auto giant has decided to hike the price figure of diesel variant by Rs 10,000 that will be effective on several diesel variants such as Maruti SX4, Maruti Swift and Maruti Dezire. On the contrary the price of the Maruti Ritz will be increased by Rs 2,000.

A source close to manufacturing team revealed that the decision for hiking the price of diesel variant is fostered by the existing high inflation in the market.  The economic slowdown made an adverse effect on production capacity due to rising price of spare parts and several other raw materials. Besides that the continuous hike in petrol price also made a grim situation for auto giant and extra expenses incurred in the production of several variants. After going through the overall situation, the company officials have unanimously decided to bring changes in the price of existing diesel variants. Moreover, the decreasing value of rupees against Yen also became a great reason for the drastic step from automobile company.

Maruti Suzuki witnessed a grim situation when manufacturing labors went on strike for a long period that made directly affect on the production capacity of the company. The long strike by manufacturing labor led to huge a production loss for the company, but now the company official indicated that they are a trying to tackle the situation with their bit of effort .

Maruti Suzuki was going through a bad phase due to long strike of production labors that made an adverse affect on its production capacity and created a great menace for the auto giant to handle the situation, I am quite sure that the current decision of hiking price of diesel variant is completely provoked by such menace.

It is to early to take such kind of decision, the rising petrol price in India already made frustrated to the buyers. This decision might distraught those who are looking for the best variant in diesel models. I think the automobile company should have been waiting for more. Anyway, decision is decision, if it’s taken, can not be taken back.

Being a leading automobile company in India, it is responsibility for Maruti Suzuki to understand customer’s need. I don’t know what prompted the auto giant to take such kind of step and I am totally against the step taken by Maruti India.

As expected, I was pretty sure that the decision for increasing the price of diesel variants will be taken soon by the Maruti India that finally revealed by the company official. On the other side it may be disappointing for some people.

As per my point of view, it is not a right time to take such decision; Maruti Suzuki is a responsible auto major in India, got immense popularity for manufacturing small cars. The rising petrol price already created a great menace in the country. At the same time the decision for rising diesel price is unfortunate for car lovers.
